Abstract
Abstract:
This study explores how Sudanese people perceive gender issues, focusing specifically on women’s experiences and societal roles, particularly in light of recent security changes. Drawing on data from Afrobarometer Round 9 (2022) and other secondary sources, the research identifies and examines the different dimensions and concepts of gender issues in Sudan. It builds a foundational knowledge base to facilitate further studies on variables affecting gender dynamics. The study emphasizes the historical evolution of women’s rights in Sudan, including key milestones such as the formation of the Educated Girl Association in 1940 and the Women’s Union in 1952, which championed education, fought harmful traditions, and advocated for political and economic rights.
The research aims to:
1. Measure public awareness of women’s issues.
2. Analyze the extent and impact of gender issues in urban and rural areas, particularly under the influence of security challenges.
3. Provide a framework for future studies.
By analyzing formal and informal societal norms, statistical results, and local perspectives, this study highlights political, economic, and social dimensions of gender
